Dear Parents,
Welcome back to a new school year. My name is Yasmine Elhadary and it is a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s science teacher for this year. As a parent myself, I fully understand the importance of education in the development of a child. Therefore, I want you to be confident that I will do my best and treat each and every student as my own, holding them to the same expectations and standards as I do with my children.
Science is a core subject and hence homework will be given to students almost every class to ensure understanding of the subject and implementing the curriculum in your child’s daily life. Your cooperation is essential in developing a positive homework habit.
Tests and quizzes will be performed regularly for adequate evaluation of students’ knowledge and understanding.
Your child will also have regular lab visits and research assignments, which will be evaluated and included as part ofhis/her overall grade.
Finally, I have included some additional information that I hope you find useful. Please take time to go through it and let me know if you have any questions or clarifications
Sincerely, Yasmine Elhadary
Homework Policy
I strongly encourage students to do their homework on their own. Homework is given for two main reasons:
a) To practice what the student has learned in class
b) To make sure the student understood the day lesson
Classwork Policy
Finishing classwork on time is very important as it enhances the student’s time management skills as well as gives them the chance to ask about any confusing or unfamiliar concepts. Accordingly, students might be asked to stay during the break to complete their unfinished work.
Newsletters
The Science Class Newsletter is issued every Sunday. The class newsletter is to keep the parents informed of what the class is doing each week and inform them of important news or updates. Class newsletter can be found on the Weeblywebsite.
Planners
Each student will receive a planner, which is divided into two sections
a) Homework diary:
Please sign the homework diary on a daily basis to ensure that an adult has seen the homework assignment
b) Parent - Teacher message book:
Should you have any questions, queries or messages, please write them in the message book and I will get back to you on the same day
Parent - Teacher Communication
Should you have any questions or queries, please use one of the below mediums for communication:
a) Via the Parent-Teacher message book
b) Via Weebly
c) Via school phone (01273828285)
